BlockGames February 2024 recap

BlockGames February 2024 recap

With 2023 now well in the rearview mirror, and following a slew of big announcements in January, we’re back with a full recap of the shortest month of the year, and BlockGames’ first-ever leap year. Short though it was, it didn’t stop us from jacking things up and packing them in like never before. Here’s a look back at what we achieved as a team and community in February.

We went public!

As the saying goes, ‘the public gets what the public wants’, and after much waiting and nail-biting anticipation, the BlockGames app finally went live for everyone. The result? Naturally enough, a rapid acceleration in sign-ups and user activity. Since making the announcement in mid-February, we’ve had a stampede of people eager to start using the app, playing their favorite games, and earning crazy rewards. Folded into the Player Network experience is the ability to evolve a personal, immutable, Universal Player Profile that cannot be traded or transferred. We believe that people should own their own data, and with the BlockGames, we’ve made this a reality. In addition, there’s still the opportunity to earn plenty of Airdrop Points right up until our token generation event (TGE).

Tokenomics revealed

Early in February, we got the big guns blazing with news of our $BLOCK tokenomics. This information was under lock and key for a long time. We wanted to get the balance right. The moment we had, we revealed to the world, via our socials, how precisely 1 Billion $BLOCK tokens will be distributed. Firstly, and perhaps of most relevance to BlockGames’ early adopters, we made the bold decision to allocate a massive 30% of all tokens to our community. This includes a 3% Airdrop of unlocked $BLOCK at TGE, plus a further 22% that will be released to the community according to specific vesting schedules, as outlined in our Discord and Twitter posts on February 1st. Vitally, 4.5% of all $BLOCK will be made immediately available for liquidity purposes for our ecosystem pool. This is to reduce slippage and volatility and ensure the stability and sustainability of the project from the outset. The chart above reveals in more detail how $BLOCK will be allocated and distributed, including, in purple, details on unlocks and linear vesting timelines.

Collabs on top of collabs

Building on January’s sterling performance, we’ve been putting our collabs on steroids, teaming up with more great names in the Web3 gaming space. In addition to those we previously announced including Crypto Undeads, The Ape List, Neo Tokyo Code, Mintify, DeGods, and others, we’ve now welcomed a new wave of illustrious names including:

https://twitter.com/RepubliK_GG

https://twitter.com/SteadyStackNFT

https://twitter.com/arcthecommunity

https://twitter.com/eesee_io

Not only do these collaborations strengthen and cement BlockGames as a leading player in the mobile gaming space, they also bring together the wider Web3 community keen to drive positive change and put power back into the hands of players through inclusion, participation and rewards.

Website renovation and redecoration

For most businesses, a killer website is a primary communications tool and a key moving part in their growth and success. BlockGames is no different. So our design team has been busy cooking up a perfect storm of awesome graphics, animation, and other essential content. We’re also busy behind the scenes tweaking and refining our whitepaper, which will be accessible through the new website. Currently in its final stages, the whitepaper will outline everything you need to know about BlockGames and how it works including use cases and user acquisition problems the Player Network solves for games. For the time being, we know that everyone in the community is psyched about the imminent launch of the $BLOCK token and so, in February, we decided to dedicate our website exclusively to the $BLOCK presale! Which brings us nicely onto…

Lucky Rolls

One of our biggest February announcements was the launch of the BlockGames Lucky Rolls campaign (currently still active). Lucky Rolls provides another opportunity for users to secure a $BLOCK allocation, granting access to the highly anticipated token Pre-Sale on a first-come, first-served basis. Lucky Rolls can be acquired through giveaways and contests on the BlockGames Discord server, and engaging with the Rewarded Play App. Another way for users without a DICE NFT to get Lucky Rolls is to reach out to existing DICE owners and hope they’re feeling generous. This is because DICE NFT owners have six Lucky Rolls in total: three that are bonded to the NFT i.e. non-transferable; and three that are unbonded and can be freely given away. So, if you don’t have a DICE, it’s worth doing all of the things mentioned, as the more Lucky Rolls you have, the higher your chances of being waitlisted for the pre-sale!

Rolling out an even better roadmap

Our new roadmap does two things: It shows the goals we’ve reached and the things we’re going to achieve. We’re pleased to say that three major milestones have been passed, denoted in the image by a pixelated green ticks. We revealed our in-depth tokenomics, outlining a full and transparent overview of how $BLOCK tokens will be allocated; we celebrated the public launch of the BlockGames App; and we launched the Lucky Rolls waitlist. What follows will appear in a future recap.

Bonkers growth

It’s nice to know that you set yourself a target and smashed it. And that’s precisely what happened. After just one week of hitting the 100k sign-up milestone, we drove through the 200k barrier and left it in tatters. This is in no small part thanks to our community, BlockGames' innovative and highly incentivized referral system, and our amazing project and KOL partners. One thing’s for certain, we’re going stratospheric. Our buzzword for the month as we draw closer to the $BLOCK token launch? Exponential.

P.S it’s probably worth mentioning that, although this is a retrospective, at the time of writing, we’ve also surpassed 350K Twitter followers! It’s all happening so fast.

Even more games

Adding more gaming experiences is vital to the growth of the BlockGames ecosystem. We’re always launching new games and there are always more feeding down through the pipeline. The more games we have, the greater the opportunities for community engagement and stacking up those Airdrop Points. To find out what new games have been added, simply head to the BlockGames App and explore. For rights reasons, most games are geo-specific, so if there aren’t any new games in your region yet, hold tight because they’re coming soon.

Lighting up Paris

At BlockGames, we’re suckers for Web3, gaming, and crypto networking opportunities — it’s how we’ve made so many friends in the industry and attracted so much funding. So,9 this time, in February, a few select members of the BG team jetted off to Paris for a serious NFT extravaganza. Well, that’s probably being a little too modest. What we actually did was showcase a roadblocked Q&A and champagne glass-clinking session in the VIP Lounge, alongside our awesome partner, Pixelmon, at Paris NFT. With 1100 submissions to enter and a maximum of 200 attendees, we were seriously oversubscribed. Make no mistake, the night was LIT!

Even more ways to stack Airdrop Points

After adding more ways for users to earn Airdrop Points in January, we decided a little extra flex was needed. So we further increased the number of ways for users to secure even more Airdrop points. In addition to the easy 10-minute scoop of up to 1000 Airdrop points announced in January, in February we engineered even more ways for Points-hungry farmers to harvest. The tasks were simple, and the points awarded generous: 250 points for adding “(love heart emoji) $BLOCK” to your nickname; 150 points for ‘liking’ our post; 250 points for ‘retweeting’ our post; and 250 points for ‘joining’ our Telegram channel.

Our 1st February leap was indeed a treat

So much was crammed into the shortest month of the year, we can barely believe it ourselves. In this retro, there wasn’t even room to squeeze in the bit about the love shown to us (on Valentine’s Day, no less), by our community, who took our follower numbers to all-time highs of 120K and 60K on Twitter and Discord respectively (we’ve now left these numbers in the dust).

We also had a ticketed competition set up in the App, which awarded one lucky raffle winner a free DICE NFT. All of which goes to show how much can be achieved, even in the shortest of shortest months, when you have an amazing team of product developers and creatives dedicated to bringing ever more value to an awesome community seeking fun, games, and rewards.

That’s it for the February wrap. Without a doubt, there will be a ton of new stuff to tell you at the end of March, so keep your eyes wide open in readiness for our next monthly recap. Rest assured, it’s gonna be big!
