Before we hit the gas and zoom off at full throttle into 2024—a year that’s already looking like it’s going to go gangbusters in the blockchain gaming space—let’s take a minute to look in the rearview mirror at the many milestones that have been realized, both as a team and community, in 2023.

Plugged into Google

In recognition of our innovations bringing the Web2 and Web3 gaming worlds together through the BlockGames Player Network, Google chose BlockGames to join the highest level (Scale Tier) of its Web3 startup program, giving us access to Google’s partners, and delivering a host of other benefits.

Growth targets and KPIs smashed

Earlier in the year, we set ourselves the goal of hitting 50K Twitter (now X) followers and 30K Discord community members. The outcome, driven largely by excitement around the BlockGames project plus the launch of our utility-oriented DICE NFT, was double for both.

DICE NFT Launch and Airdrop Points

This was a major undertaking with OpenSea and our community, but due to some coding issues, it had to be launched twice. The failed initial launch was a real test of the resolve of our community, but the result was more than we could have hoped for. Through this, one of our first major hiccups, we learned that our community is ready to ride storms with us, staying strong and true to the project they most believe in.

The result was insane trading volume. In three months to year-end, more than 6000 ETH had changed hands in DICE NFT trading. At the time of writing, volume is up a further 14% on the figure. In fiat (real money) terms, we’re talking more than $12M in trading volume, and growing. For much of that time, DICE trended and even enjoyed a brief spell as the world’s No.1 NFT on the platform, while consistently trending in the Top 10.

Multiplier effect

In Q4 of 2023, we also revealed our DICE multipliers. All DICE owners who connected their wallets to the BlockGames Player Network received their early access and get base Airdrop points, multiplied by $BLOCK Airdrop Multipliers between 3X and 10X, as long as their DICE are staked. These perks along with early adopter 2X multiplier add together to increase the Airdrop Points earned through the BlockGames App. Airdrop Points will be converted into $BLOCK token when we launch the token in 2024.

App launch

Next in line was our App launch, something we had been building towards since BlockGames was founded almost two years ago. There were regulations to meet, lots of loopholes to jump through, and more than 200 geo-specific games to launch. Our efforts finally paid off in Q4 when we opened the Player Network up to our community. BlockGames OGs with either DICE NFTs, access codes won in Discord raffles, or codes awarded for participating in early app testing all gained early access, allowing them to:

  • Be among the first few to join the growing BlockGames ecosystem

  • Explore hundreds of awesome games exclusive to our early adopters

  • Start earning convertible credits that turn into real value rewards

  • Earn Airdrop Points for engagement—playing games and participating in contests, etc.

  • Reach specific milestones and stake their DICE for even more Airdrop points

Ramping up retention

Perhaps best of all, we’ve been getting some seriously juicy metrics through, not least of which is blowing industry averages out of the water with a 27% retention rate for people engaging with the BlockGames Player Network on Day 14. For context, the average retention rate for games is around 7%. We anticipate that things will only get better as we onboard more games and deliver new ways for people to play and earn rewards with real value.

Time to chill

And after all of that high-octane stuff, before we start to speed up again for 2024, just to reassure you that we don’t always travel at a million miles an hour, check out our lo-fi, laid-back BlockGames beats. Just a little something the team cooked up. Because, as we all know…everybody needs to chill once in a while.

Final word

Now that we’ve delivered the app to our early adopters, we’re getting ready for the next stage which is the public launch of our mainnet. In just a few weeks, we’re getting ready to open the floodgates to all gamers who love to play and earn. Following on from all that was achieved last year, this will kick off the scaling and exponential growth of the BlockGames Player Network.

If 2023 was a year for preparation, 2024 will be the year of execution as we strive to deliver the world’s best player network and bring the best of Web2 and Web3 games together in one incredible space! For our dedicated community, it’s onward and upwards. LFG!
