March 2024 recap

March 2024 recap

Anyone who has been hanging on tight to our coattails for the last month will know what a crazy ride March 2024 has been.

Anyone who has been hanging on tight to our coattails for the last month will know what a crazy ride March 2024 has been. The rapidly expanding BlockGames team and its ever-loyal community — which has also been growing faster than ever — leapt on the cosmic surfboard with plans to reach the moon and somehow ended up in a wild party on Mars! Here’s a recap of how we went so far and so fast and why March was a month to remember!

We brought you SocialFi and SocialFi 2.0

In the never-ending pursuit of finding more ways for our community members to engage and have fun, in anticipation of the $BLOCK token Pre-sale event, we launched our Social Points campaign. This gave users the opportunity to farm like mad, and earn rewards by actively engaging with BlockGames content on X (formerly Twitter). By participating in activities such as publishing tweets, liking, retweeting, replying to, and quoting tweets with the $BLOCK or @GetBlockGames tags, users were able to accumulate Social Points that were automatically credited, every Monday. These ultimately contributed to their $BLOCK Airdrop rewards. Dice NFT holders were also able to ratchet up their points with their multipliers. We now entered final SocialFi 2.0 stages, with points earned for engagement for anyone who interacted with the official @getblockgames tweets. The upshot? The SocialFi campaign was a total success!

Collaboration and integrations

In March, with the $BLOCK Pre-sale in everyone’s crosshairs, it was time to turbocharge our collaborations and partnerships. In addition to our previously announced partnerships, we revealed new integrations with the Solana chain, as well as leading NFT marketplace, Magic Eden.

The integration of the two chains means users can connect to the BlockGames Rewarded Play app through a growing number of wallets, broadening access to Universal Player Profiles, increased scope for gameplay and wider community engagement across the BlockGames ecosystem as a whole. Meanwhile, the Magic Eden partnership, supporting Solana, Polygon, Ethereum and Bitcoin chains opens up availability of BlockGames’ Dice and any future NFTs to an even wider fan-base.

An enviable line-up of advisors and contributors

At BlockGames we never do things by halves, which is why we source the brightest minds in the industry to support us in our growth and help us navigate the immense challenges that face any tech business pursuing unicorn status. Everything from regulatory red tape and compliance on a global scale to detailed, sustainable tokenomics requires in-depth knowledge, and an attention to detail that ensures nothing falls through the cracks. Enlisting experts to cover every corner of BlockGames took time, but in March we were ready to announce the full line-up ahead of the $BLOCK Token Pre-sale. Notable advisors now aboard the good ship BlockGames include: Magic Eden’s very own Chris Akhavan; Co-founder and CEO of Sandox, Sebastien Borget; VP of Layer Zero’s ecosystem, Simon Baksys; Legal counselor for Coinbase, Brett Beller, and Luke Wagman from CMC’s funding team. Contributors and KOLs (YouTubers) include none other than: Alex Becker; Cryptonauts; Gainzy, Pentoshi; Brian D. Evans; and more.

Funding round

Over the past year, we’ve diligently laid the groundwork for gamer data ownership through Universal Player Profiles, empowering users to share their data while assisting game publishers in scaling their offerings. As a relatively new project, on our path to developing our app ahead of our successful app launch, we were on a mission to find investors who truly believed in our vision. Happily, by the end of March this year, we were ready to answer the question that had been burning on the lips of so many people connected to BlockGames: “Who were our backers and what did we raise?”

At the end of March, we were ready to deliver an answer: “We secured $6M in funding from prominent investors across two rounds. These were including 32-Bit Ventures, Sfermion Capital, Susquehanna International Group (SIG), Cumberland DRW, Cypher Capital, MapleBlock Capital, Newman Group, Estoty, 432 VC, Maven Capital, Based VC, Aquanow Ventures, Aptos, Presto Labs, Founderheads, and Devmons. Additionally, we received support from angel investors within the gaming and tech industries (see ‘an enviable line-up of advisors and contributors’ above). All of this in addition to being accepted into the Google Cloud Web3 Startup Program (Scale Tier), last year.”

Pre-sale launch

In March, as excitement for $BLOCK soared, we launched the $BLOCK Pre-sale Dashboard, providing early supporters with a streamlined platform to secure tokens before the official launch. Users could easily connect their wallets and view their allowlist and waitlist positions.

The Pre-sale was divided into three tiers: Guaranteed, Lucky, and Open. Dice holders alone benefitted from the guaranteed allocations with Lucky Roll owners participating in the Lucky Tier. Last but not least, the Open Tier allowed equal opportunity bidding for $BLOCK allocations with refunds planned to unsuccessful bidders for after the Pre-sale (actioned as of the time of writing).

Whitepaper launched

Every blockchain project worth its salt should have a whitepaper. With this in mind, on March 22 we were proud to announce the release of the BlockGames whitepaper, offering a comprehensive overview of our platform’s architecture, tokenomics, and applications. The whitepaper delves into the Player Network Protocol, Universal Player Profile, and the role of the $BLOCK token in facilitating transactions and governance. The whitepaper also outlines our tokenomics framework, including emission mechanics and marks a significant milestone in our journey to communicate to the world how we’re revolutionizing the gaming industry through blockchain technology. You can view the BlockGames whitepaper here.

Exiting the month of March with a sonic boom

All good things came to an end, and to wrap up the March madness and bring the G-force interplanetary ride — one that had us locked to our seats — cruising to a gentle stop, we revealed the Pre-sale results. Let’s make no mistake, they were staggering! Within just two days, our community had contributed over $19 million to the Pre-sale! This overwhelming response resulted in a 771% overallocation. But the silver lining, even for those who were unable to secure an allocation, was that BlockGames, the Player Network they love, was unequivocally confirmed as a leading player in the Web3 gaming space with over 1 million users and counting. As we’ve said all along, BlockGames is here to stay and will be cooking up many more opportunities for rewards for all community members in the near future. So stay locked, and hold onto your hats. Because the ride is about to start up again, and the next stop is $BLOCK. For real!
